Types of Restraining & Protective Orders

The next step is to seek a temporary restraining order from the court, which lasts 15 days or until a hearing is set to discuss a permanent restraining order. At the next hearing, a permanent restraining order, which lasts up to five years, can be discussed. The offending party will have an opportunity to be present.
